Imagine if you spent 10 years building a really expensive summer house and right after it’s complete, you got rid of your only way of getting there, your car. You were planning on bumming a ride from your neighbor down the road, but their car just blew up. Now you have no way to get to your fancy house. Oh yeah, you also left some of your buddies at the house and they’re going to run out of food soon.

That’s the current state of the U.S. space program.

The International Space Station may be evacuated by late November Astronauts may need to take the unprecedented step of temporarily abandoning the International Space Station if last week’s Russian launch accident prevents new crews from flying there this fall. Until officials figure out what went wrong with Russia’s essential Soyuz rockets, there will be no way to launch any more astronauts before the current residents have to leave in mid-November. The unsettling predicament comes just weeks after NASA’s final space shuttle flight. Good thing that when NASA retired the Space Shuttle program they said they could count on the Russians for getting people to the Space Station we spent almost 10 years and $100 billion building.

Astronauts may need to take the unprecedented step of temporarily abandoning the International Space Station if last week’s Russian launch accident prevents new crews from flying there this fall.

Until officials figure out what went wrong with Russia’s essential Soyuz rockets, there will be no way to launch any more astronauts before the current residents have to leave in mid-November.

Proposed ultimate space station photo op rejected Russian mission managers Tuesday rejected a NASA proposal to undock a three-man Soyuz spacecraft for a fly around of the International Space Station to capture unprecedented views of the complex with the shuttle Discovery and a full complement of European, Japanese and Russian spacecraft attached Discovery’s mission is the only time such a photograph would be possible before the shuttle fleet is retired later this summer. That’s quite a bummer. This was going to be a once in a lifetime photo opportunity.

Suicide bomber attempted bombing in Moscow on New Years Eve but accidentally blew herself up thanks to a spam text from her mobile phone operator.

Security sources believe a spam message from her mobile phone operator wishing her a happy new year received just hours before the planned attack triggered her suicide belt, killing her but nobody else.

She was at her Moscow safe house at the time getting ready with two accomplices, both of whom survived and were seen fleeing the scene.

The Nuclear Option As BP prepares to lower a four-story, 70-ton dome over the oil gusher under the Gulf of Mexico, the Russians — the world’s biggest oil producers — have some advice for their American counterparts: nuke it. Komsomoloskaya Pravda, the best-selling Russian daily, reports that in Soviet times such leaks were plugged with controlled nuclear blasts underground. The idea is simple, KP writes: “the underground explosion moves the rock, presses on it, and, in essence, squeezes the well’s channel.” via trueslant.com

Crazy Conspiracy?

Apparently the guy who shot this video of “assassins” allegedly firing guns at survivors at the Russian crash site of Polish President Lech Kaczyński’s plane has now been murdered.

I really don’t know what to make of what’s going on in this video. If this is true, wouldn’t the Polish authorities wonder why some of the dead had gunshot wounds? Either way, who laughs at an airplane crash site?
